Shri Shaligram Sharma Smarak (P.G.) College, Rasna (Meerut), affiliated to the Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut (U.P), established in 1980, is one of the three educational institutions run by Shri Shaligram Sharma Parinyas Parishad (Trust), Rasna. Founded by Shri Nyadar Singh (Nambardar Ji), a great philanthropist and promoter of learning and formal education in this rural area, this trust has been running such institutions since 1948. This college is located at a point on the Meerut- Baraut route hardly 500 meters towards village Rasna from the main road in the Sadar Tehsil of the Meerut District. During India’s struggle for independence a number of freedom fighters including even Acharya Kriplani, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi visited this place several times, and later on it came to be known as a 'Gandhi Ashram'. Even today it is called an 'Ashram'.

Named after a dedicated teacher, Shri Shaligram Sharma Ji, belonging to the village Charthawal (Muzaffarnagar), this college is the only institution imparting education upto Post-graduate level between Meerut and Baraut. Besides regular courses and classes several students join Ph.D Programme and seek research guidance from it’s competent and highly qualified faculty. |
